Single woman in the bible

Two single friends recently attended a teaching about an independent study of biblical femininity. My single friends, one of whom is old enough that she will probably never marry and will definitely never have children, were shocked and angered. I knew what they were experiencing. I get that; being a wife and mother is a source of huge joy for me.

All the Single Ladies

Being single can be hard sometimes, especially if you feel lonely and hopeless and desire to be married. And am I wrong for struggling in this season?

Thankfully, the Bible has a lot to say about being single. It encourages men and women to be patient and pursue their purpose and grow in their faith in this season of their lives.

In addition, there are a number of single women in the Bible, such as Rahab, Esther or Mary Magdalene, that God uses for his glory. The following Bible verses about being single will give you perspective, reassurance, and understanding of this season and its importance.

Of course, the Proverbs 31 woman teaches every woman, married or not about how to become a godly woman. Therefore, if you really want to prepare yourself to be found by your future husband. Then start working on characteristics that define a godly woman. Fear the Lord, care for others and be wise in your season of singleness.

Our bodies are the temple of the holy spirit and therefore should be kept pure. Strive to obey God, by laying aside your sexual desires and instead adapt godly desires that will honor him. And I think he did that to remind us that God uses men and women to share his word. I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. First, it needs to be said that marriage, as well as singleness, are gifts from God and neither is better than the other.

Which was possible because he did not have to care for wife or children. Therefore, this bible verse on being single shows that as a single woman you are at an advantage when it comes to serving God because you can devote yourself completely. One of the hardest parts of being single is to master self-control. Because of our fleshly desires, it is easy to want to give in and do what pleases your body.

This bible verse reminds us that remaining self-controled is something that needs encouragement. So, if you are struggling with lust, find an accountability partner or group that you can invite in whenever you need prayer. Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?

Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? I will make a helper suitable for him. A lot of times as a single Christian woman you are made to feel ashamed whenever you express your desire to be married. While I agree that peace and contentment in singleness should be a focus of your spiritual growth, I also want you to know that the desire to have a godly marriage is a good thing.

He, himself decided that men and women shall marry. So, I encourage you to seek God in prayer whenever you feel weak and ask him to fill you up with his presence and a job that surpasses all understanding. Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. Now we all know that whenever something is repeated in the Bible it should be paid special attention to.

This verse is repeated 3 times throughout the book of Song of Songs. As women, our emotions sometimes overpower our logic and reasoning. Unfortunately, these same emotions can be misleading or even vanish after a while.

As a single Christian woman, you should make sure that you are not guided by infatuation but love. Make sure you understand the nature of a woman and what makes us different from man. A good way is by looking for bible verses about women and understanding your identity in Christ. How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.

This bible verse about purity does not need a lot of explanation. Remaining oure is only possible by seeking God and not following the ways of the world. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. No matter how much you may despise this season of singleness, the fact is God thinks it is necessary!

He might be teaching you an important lesson you will need for marriage, or it might just simply not be the right time. God has a plan, all you need to do is to start the work and remain joyful. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

Our God is a good God, that has the best in mind for you. And even though he does not promise to give us everything, he will give us what we need to do his work. He desires to give us safety and belonging by providing us with a community of believers. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for you.

Beloved yes this is what God calls you! Remember that your identity in Christ is not found in your relationship status. Rest assured that he will send you a good man when the time is right. I'm sure you saw the title of this post and thought, "Great, another blog post about how Ruth is the epitome of singleness in the Bible. I love the book of Ruth. I think it can definitely be helpful to single women, but sometimes, and maybe this is just me, it reads to me of the story of a girl who lost her husband and throws herself at the first available man. Obviously, I'm taking things WAY out of context, and there's a lot more going on in the story than that. So today, I'm digging into some different examples, ones that make more sense to me in terms of MY experience in singleness. I hope that you find them encouraging, too. And the people multiplied and grew very strong.

Single Women of the Bible

In my church there are a large number of single adults, several widowers and many couples and families who are facing divorce or have gone through divorce. I know many young adults who do not see marriage in their future and are totally okay with that. If you are a single adult, a widower, or someone who has been through or going through divorce, know that God has a plan and a purpose for you.

What does the Bible say about? The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
